Beach Huts

Enjoy a lovely day at the seaside in one our popular beach huts on the beautiful Essex coast. We have five beach huts available: two in Walton; and three in Clacton, two of which can be made into a double-sized hut.

The double-sized hut can be used if you have lots of medical equipment or if you are a support group or school group.

Each registered family are able to make one beach hut booking per season. Any additional bookings will be cancelled and refunded. If we do have any dates available for second bookings these will be advertised via our Facebook page.

To hire one of the Short Breaks beach huts there is a daily charge of £10.

The following huts have wheelchair access:

  • 'Sandy Shores' in Walton
  • 'Kite Tails' and 'Sand Pails' in Clacton
  • 'Rock & Chips' in Clacton
  • 'Happy Days' in Clacton

The huts have easy access to the beach and are close to Changing Places facilities. You can also make use of a Landeez all-terrain wheelchair. We will send you instructions on how to collect the wheelchair when your booking is confirmed.

Each hut comes with deck chairs and beach toys. We also provide a dustpan and brush and ask you to leave the huts clean and tidy for the next visitor.

The huts do not have power or running water, but there are lots of cafes and shops nearby where you can buy food and drink.

Clacton

Our three huts are on the main promenade, halfway between the pier and the Toby Carvery. A Changing Places facility is next to the main toilet block, a minute's walk away.

You can see everything that's happening on the beach from the hut.

Walton

Sandy Shores, our original Walton beach hut, is on the promenade next door to a Changing Places facility. The pier is a few minutes walk away. Unlike Clacton, there are storm barriers in front of the hut, which means you won't have a clear view of all the beach.

Our New Walton Beach hut, 'Seas the Day', does have direct access to the beach, but this does mean, as the promenade is not very wide, ramp access is not possible at this location. There is now a second Changing Places facility in Walton and this is located at Bathhouse Meadow's inclusive play area.
